Introduction: Celebrating Resilience and Skill
At Gunny’s Air Conditioning and Plumbing, we believe in the power of second chances, skill-building, and community transformation. On that note, we’re incredibly proud to honor the 2025 graduates of the HVAC Program at Florence McClure Women’s Correctional Center—a life-changing initiative led in collaboration with the College of Southern Nevada (CSN).
As part of CSN’s commitment to vocational education, this program equips incarcerated women with the technical and career-ready skills needed to re-enter society as certified HVAC professionals—empowered and employable.
A Partnership That Creates Opportunities
The HVAC training program at Florence McClure is a joint effort between CSN’s Workforce Development, the Nevada Department of Corrections, and supportive industry leaders like Gunny’s. With hands-on instruction, classroom theory, and certification paths, the program is designed to provide a legitimate career path in the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning industry.
Our CEO, Christopher Marshall, a proud member of the CSN HVAC Advisory Board, has long supported this initiative.

Why This Program Matters: Real Skills, Real Impact
1. Workforce Readiness
Graduates leave the program with foundational HVAC knowledge—covering electrical systems, refrigeration cycles, ductwork, safety compliance, and EPA certifications. These skills are directly aligned with the growing demand for HVAC technicians in Las Vegas and surrounding areas.
2. Reducing Recidivism Through Employment
Studies show that access to stable employment reduces the likelihood of returning to incarceration. By offering job-ready certifications in high-demand fields like HVAC, this program empowers women to rebuild their lives and contribute meaningfully to society.
3. Supporting Diversity in Trades
The HVAC industry has historically lacked gender diversity. This program challenges that by opening doors for women to enter, thrive, and lead in the trades—breaking stereotypes and building stronger, more inclusive teams.
